Ultrasound is a well-established female choir that celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2023.
We are a friendly, welcoming group of women who share a love of all genres of music.
We are always working towards performance and sing several times a year to help raise funds for various charities. We also organise social events throughout the year to the theatre, cinema and restaurants. If you enjoy singing and would like to be part of our community, please come and join us.
Lisa Tsindides started performing in 1983 with Forest and Thistles Operatic Societies, she undertook roles in many shows such as Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma and a multitude of other Musical Theatre classics. She found her love for teaching when she began coaching children in local Performing Arts Schools and the rest as they say is history. She'd always dreamed of running an adult choir and took the leap of faith in 2013 when a spot became available in her local church hall which is still the home of Ultrasound Female Choir today. The choir is currently 25 people strong and we continue to welcome new members regularly.
Every Tuesday evening, we meet at Derby Road Methodist Church, South Woodford, where you’ll find a warm, supportive environment, whether you’re a seasoned vocalist or just starting out.
We learn singing techniques and harmonies, have fun warm-ups, play with voice control, and prepare for performances that range from enchanting light opera to the vibrant world of theatre, plus pop, rock and more.
There is no need to be able to read music the only requirement is that you can sing in tune! Bring a passion for singing and your smile.

We perform throughout the year including our annual Summer and Christmas spectaculars, these are not mandatory but we always encourage our members to join these performances, which have always been renowned for their very high standard.
Every one of our performances provides an opportunity to fundraise for charity. In the past we have raised money for the likes of Alzheimer's Society, MIND, Haven House and Breast Cancer UK and welcome suggestions from members for causes that mean something to them.
Research shows that being part of a choir improves health and happiness, as well as helping manage stress, depression, pain, boosting the immune system and lowering blood pressure. It also exercises the brain as well as the body, but singing is particularly beneficial for improving breathing, posture and muscle tension. So why not give it a try?
Contact Lisa or turn up to join the choir for your free taster session.
We meet every Tuesday from 19:30 - 21:30 with a 15 minute break and would love to see you there!
